Renovation of an alternator for the Banca power plant

09.07.2018

As part of its hydro-power activity, Clemessy Motors was chosen to renovate the G3 alternator at the Banca power plant in the Pyrénées Atlantiques region.
Installed in 1913, this alternator, built by CEM BOURGET, has since been driving a turbine in the Aldudes waters under a fall from a height of 100m.

While it was undergoing maintenance, the 8-ton rotor winding was completely rebuilt according to a new design defined by Clemessy Motors.
The 8.5-ton stator was refurbished from the magnetic circuit comprising 4,700 segments right through to the rewinding work calculated in half-sections.

After being reinstalled, this alternator will make it possible to ensure a reliable annual production capacity of 11 GWh.
